Essay on The Benefits of School Uniforms in Public Schools
In the United States today, millions of studentsââ¬â¢ attend public schools and face some sort of violence that is associated with that school. It can be gang related or just simply bullying in the school. Because of these rising issues, parents are being forced to pull their children out of public school and home school them for their safety. Is this the best action for the children? Will they be missing out on many life skills that are learned while attending schools with peers their own age? How can the schools make our children feel safe so that they are able to attend the public schools and so that schools donââ¬â¢t lose out on valuable funding from the state? If it means that our teenagers wi ll stop killing each other over designer labels, then schools should require students to wear a uniform everyday to school. (Brunsma, 2006) His speech was just the beginning of the very controversial uniform debate, and people on both sides of the arguments have been trying hard to make sure that their case is heard. The main reason for implanting a school uniform policy would be that it increases the safety for the children at school. Gang violence in schools is at an all time high. In 1989, a high school student from Baltimore was shot and wounded in a fight over a pair of sunglasses that cost $95.00. Since this incident educators started restricting what students could wear. (Brunsma, 2006) By doing this, the violence in the school has decreased. According to Holly Charlonne with Life Script, she states that gangs have a need to wear a certain color to distinguish them from other neighborhood gangs. If our children are required to wear a uniform, this will lessen the chanc e of any possibility of violence out break at school associated with gangs. (Charlonne, 2007) Since everyone will have on the same colors, the uniforms may be viewed as a way to bring the children closer together by having the same effect as would sport uniforms. Everyone one always called me daddyââ¬â¢s little princess and that made me even more spoiled. I would love to be around my family play games with them do mostly everything. But, everything started to change once my mom made an announcement that she was pregnant. That moment was very important and surprising to everyone. I was happy that I was going to have a little sister or brother. After a while, everyone started paying attention to my mom and her tummy and that I wouldnââ¬â¢t get any. One day my uncle said to me that after the baby arrived he or she was going to be the new baby of the family, that it was going to take my spot. After I heard that I got sad, since I was used of having everyone spoiled me. From that moment on I was starting to drift away from my family. Months later my mom was ready to give birth one morning and I couldnââ¬â¢t go since I had school. Later that morning my dad told me and my brother we had a new baby sister. All throughout school I was thinking how my life was going to change. Lots of ideas popped into my head. I even thought of my parents forgetting about me. After school my dad came to pick me up so I could go to the hospital and visit. Once I entered the room I saw my mom holding a small human being. I was happy to see my new baby sister. I walked towards the bed and carried the baby. She was so small and her face was red with little white dots on her cheekbones, and she had a look of confusion. As I held my new baby sister I realized that she was going to need all the attention in the world even mine. I than also realized that I wasnââ¬â¢t a baby anymore that I didnââ¬â¢t need all the attention I always had that now it was going to be the babyââ¬â¢s turn to be daddyââ¬â¢s little princess. After that day I stopped acting like the world revolved about me because it never did. I gave my full attention to my baby sister. Everyone told me they thought I was going to get jealous and my respond was that I was at first but I than realized that she need it more than me. One day my dad told me that I was always going to be his little girl. I was glad he told me that. The fence I had built was just to damage the beautiful relationship I had with my family. It started to fall little by little as I started to become conscious that attention was nothing compared to having a family that cared about you. My family helped me tare down the fence because they showed me that just cause your growing doesnââ¬â¢t mean people are going to stop caring about you or not give you attention that there will always be a time where you have the spotlight. Nowadays is very common to find young people consuming alcohol and smoking on parties, but why it is so common to find teenagers consuming alcohol? , knowing that is dangerous for their health, because we are talking about addictions. There are many factors that can lead to teenagers to consume alcohol and smoking cigarretes and other things like marijuana, but, the most common factors are: curiosity, peer pressure, low self esteem, family lifestyle and of course the mass media. In our point of view, teenagers are more exposed to fall in alcoholism or smoking, when they have not enough confidence with themselves, and they need to feel more security, and also be part of a group of friends sometimes, this group of friends is not the correct to follow. In general, young people dont care about their health, and how the extensive consume of these substances can affect their own lifes. Alcohol should not be consumed by teens for a number of reasons, including the potential for for addiction, legal troubles, and their very lifes. Parents belive it can be peer pressure, when friends do it their teens will endulge, but the real reason is beacuse all of their teens are havinf massive uncontrolled behaviour. Definition of Marketing
Definition of Marketing According to American Marketing Association, marketing involves identifying the items and services that customers prefer. After identifying the items and services, an approach is then developed for pursuing customers to make the purchase. For marketing to be successful, it has to quench the customersââ¬â¢ needs (Kotler Keller, 2009).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Definition of Marketing specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Alternatively, marketing can be defined as the course through which organizations increase the worth of their items and services to attract the attention of customers. Additionally, the Chartered Institute of Marketing defines marketing as one of the tasks assigned to management and includes discovering, looking forward to and satisfying customer needs with the aim getting returns (Mohan, 2005). Once the marketer has discovered customersââ¬â¢ needs, he/she should strive to improve the quality of the goods and services. The next step entails informing the customers about the item and service whose value has been improved to meet their needs. Kotler and Keller (2009) argue that the main objective of marketing is to sensitize the public about the existence of a given item or a service. This awareness can be spread through advertising and there are many channels of advertising, which include the Internet, radio, television, posters, and billboards. When marketing an item its important to focus on the needs of the potential customers because this is what will make them want to buy the good or service. Exaggerating the features of an item or service will only drive customers away because they will feel as if they are helping someone achieve his/her sales targets. After addressing the needs of the customers, they will probably be content and refer the goods or services to their friends, which will eventually lead to organizational development. The above statement may sound too good to be true, but analyzing it from another perspective confirms that it is actually true. For instance, if an organization that sells farming equipments satisfies the needs of several customers by making the equipments more durable, the contented customers will refer other farmers who are in need of durable equipments the organization supply. As time moves by, the customers will swell and the organization will have to make more farming equipments to meet the increase in demand. Additionally, more employees will have to be brought on board to help the organization achieve its mission. In this regard, marketing is important to any given organization and thus, the success of a business rests on its marketing techniques. First, Mohan (2005) states that marketing tells the outside world about the goods and services that can be obtained from a certain organization. This suggests that people cannot tell what an organization deals with, unless they hear from the organization itself.Adve rtising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More This sensitization is usually achieved at a cost, but the benefits sought after are worth the expenses. For instance, Toyota is the leading automaker and currently, the company is developing a model powered by a lithium battery. Thus, the company has to inform the public about this initiative. However, there are companies that do not need to market their items and services because they have been in the industry for so long and have a good reputation. Similarly, marketing is perceived to have a positive influence towards increasing the revenue generated from the sale of an item or service. In fact, customers cannot buy unfamiliar items or services. When a new items or services are introduced in the market, the customers are reluctant to purchase it because they do not know anything about it. Marketing therefore helps to increase the sale s earned from a given item/service. According to Bell (n.d.), informed customers are most likely to buy an item, and the more they are informed the more they buy. The customers will make the purchase for various reasons. Some will purchase the item or service just for the sake of trying it, while others may want to confirm what they hear their friends say about the product/service. Furthermore, marketing ensures that people are aware about a particular item or service and the benefits that come with it. For instance, when Samsung introduced plasma TV, it had to sensitize the public about this item through commercials that were aired in TV stations, billboards and the Internet. The cost of advertising was high, but its nothing compared to the revenue that was earned from the increase in sales. Marketers anticipate that the sales will continue to increase as the awareness campaigns increase. This is because there are people who have not yet heard about this product and they will proba bly purchase it once they are informed about it. Lastly, marketing enhances the reputation of an organization. This is because organizations use marketing as the platform to familiarize the public with their brand name. This is because people loyalty to brand names that are marketed intensively. People refer to their familiarity with a given brand to gauge its reputation and thus, they cannot trust items or services that sound or look foreign to them (Kotler Keller, 2009). For instance, customers who wish to buy mobile phones may prefer the most common models such as Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and Apple. This is because they are familiar with these brands and they know where to get the accessories that are compatible with these brands. This suggests that no one wants to be the first to use a new brand and thus, every one wants to try what others have already tried.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Definition of Marketing specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More References Bell.
